Meeting with the Director of the British Museum
On 24 September 2024 the Director of the State Institution “Tajikistan National Museum” Ibrahimzoda Zafarsho Safo met with the Director of the British Museum Dr Nicholas Cullinan within the framework of the “The Silk Roads” exhibition.
The parties discussed potential areas of collaboration between the National Museum of Tajikistan and the British Museum in the field of mutual interest, including hosting joint exhibitions, publishing scientific articles, training courses for specialists, and archaeological excavations.
The British Museum is one of the world’s most renowned museums, founded in 1753. It comprises 94 exhibition halls, which attract over 6 million visitors annually. Among the museum’s protected artefacts, the “treasury of the Amu Darya” collection known as “Oxsus Treasure” is displayed, comprising examples of ancient Bactrian jewellery art.
