Consultation with international archeologists
On 28 July 2024, the management and staff of the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, as part of a working trip to the city of Penjikent in the Sughd region, held working consultations with world-famous researchers and archaeologists. Pavel Borisovich Lure, head of the archaeological expedition in Penjikent on the Russian side, Alexey Gavrilovich Akkulov, an independent researcher, topographer, architect, and Viktor Alexandrovich Parshuto, an archaeologist at the Research Institute of the Ancient World in New York.
During the working meeting the parties discussed a number of key issues, including the organisation of joint archaeological expeditions, conservation and restoration of historical monuments, organisation of retraining courses and training of professional specialists.
It should be noted that, in accordance with the licence issued by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, a joint expedition of the National Museum and the State Hermitage was conducted in Kuhnachanori, Panjakent from 11 July 2024 onwards. Archaeological works are currently ongoing in this locations.
