Opening of the republican exhibition “Abu Ali ibn Sina – great thinker of the tajik nation” at the National museum

Today, August 14, 2025, at the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, as part of the implementation of Presidential Decree of the Republic of Tajikistan No. AP-713 of January 2, 2025, on the organization of jubilees, festivals, exhibitions, celebrations, and competitions dedicated to the culture, education, traditions, and folk crafts of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2025, and in honor of the 1,045th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scholar, philosopher, and astronomer of the Tajik nation — the great Avicenna (Abu Ali ibn Sina) — the opening ceremony of the republican exhibition titled “Abu Ali ibn Sina – Great Thinker of the Tajik Nation” took place.
The official opening ceremony was attended by and featured speeches from: Director of the National Museum Zafarsho Safo Ibrokhimzoda, Advisor to the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Social Development and Public Relations Orzu Zubaidullo Khamidiyon, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan Matlubakhon Sattoriyon, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Doctor of Philology, Professor Salomiyon Muhammad Davud Qayum.
Also taking part in the exhibition were representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population, the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan, the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Center for Islamic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the National Library of Tajikistan, professors and students of the Tajik State Medical University named after Abu Ali ibn Sina, staff of the National Museum, and representatives of the media.
Speakers at the event highlighted the outstanding contribution of the great thinker Abu Ali ibn Sina to the formation and development of the scientific and literary heritage of the Tajik nation, emphasizing the relevance of his ideas and their inspirational significance for future generations.
The exhibition features more than 80 valuable historical and cultural artifacts from the National Museum’s golden collection, reflecting the life, scientific, and literary work of Avicenna. Among them are works of fine art, wood carvings, inlays, ceramic, silver, and bronze inkwells, medical instruments, commemorative festive coins, embroidered items (suzani), ceramic and bronze sculptures, handwritten and lithographic books, as well as other museum valuables.
Today, Avicenna’s name is recognized worldwide, and he is considered one of the most prolific scholars and writers of his time. According to research, he authored 456 works covering topics in philosophy, medicine, logic, ethics, language, literature, and art, 23 of which were written in his native Tajik language.
The exhibition “Abu Ali ibn Sina – Great Thinker of the Tajik Nation” will remain open to visitors until September 1, 2025.
