Opening of the exhibition “Presentation of folk crafts of the Tajik people” in the National Museum
Yesterday 17.09.2024 in the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in fulfillment of the 37th paragraph of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, dated December 12, 2023, on the occasion of inclusion of folk crafts in the list of intangible cultural heritage of the UN on science, education and culture – UNESCO and the revival of other ancient national arts and crafts, in 2024 opened a national exhibition entitled “Presentation of folk crafts of the Tajik people”.
The official part of the exhibition opening was attended and addressed by the Director of the National Museum Ibrahimzoda Zafarsho Safo, Advisor to the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Social Development and Public Relations Shuhrat Azizoda, Deputy Chairman of the City of Dushanbe Odilzoda Dilbar Rahim and Executive Secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO Zulfiya Burkhan.
At the same time, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Islamic Republic of Iran, India, France, Palestine, Pakistan, Belarus, representatives of international organizations and other representatives of various professions took part in the exhibition.
The exhibition showcased over 35 varieties of traditional national crafts from the Tajik people, drawn from the esteemed collection of the National Museum. It featured the work of leading craftsmen from Dushanbe, including examples of copper work, art of making musical instruments (soztaroshi), chitgari, gulduzi embroidery, wood carving, kundal, ajuba making, pottery, cradle making, plate making (tabaqtaroshi), patchwork, golden embroidery, jewelry, atlas and adras making, basket weaving, knives production, miniature art, blacksmithing, sherozbofi, drum (doira) production, beading and other types of folk crafts.
It is showcased over 15 distinct folk crafts, including atlas and adras making, cradle making, beadwork, popurzani, patchwork, sherozbofi, felting, embroidery, carpet weaving, basket weaving, knife production, and more. These demonstrations, conducted by skilled masters in a practical or live format, proved highly engaging for attendees.
At the conclusion of the event, all artisans were presented with certificates from the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in recognition of their valuable contribution to the promotion and advancement of folk crafts and their active participation in the national exhibition, “Presentation of Folk Crafts of the Tajik People.”
