Opening of the anniversary exhibition “Modarnoma” at the National museum

Today, 2 September 2026, the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted the opening of a solo exhibition of works by the distinguished master and laureate of the State Prize of Tajikistan named after Abuabdulloh Rudaki, Sabzaali Murodzoda Sharif, entitled “Modarnoma” (“Ode to Mother”), dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The opening ceremony was attended and addressed by Director of the National Museum Ibrohimzoda Zafarsho Safo; Adviser to the Department of the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Social Development and Public Relations Panjshanbezoda Mukhiddin Shohinbod; Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan Sattoriyon Matlubakhon Amonzoda; Director of the Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Khojazoda Sherali Rajab; Chairperson of the Union of Artists of Tajikistan Nargis Hamidova; art historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Larisa Nazarovna Dodkhudoeva; Doctor of Art History, Professor Asliddin Nizomi; Chairperson of the Union of Writers of Tajikistan Nizom Kosim; People’s Poet of Tajikistan Gulrukhsor Safieva; artist-decorator and art historian Manzura Ulzhaboeva; Rector of the State Institute of Fine Arts and Design of Tajikistan Jurakhonzoda Sirojiddin; as well as the artist’s relatives and close associates and art enthusiasts.

In their addresses, the participants highlighted Sabzaali Murodzoda Sharif’s significant contribution to the development of national fine arts, the promotion and representation of the history and culture of the Tajik people, the artistic embodiment of the image of the mother in his creative work, as well as his longstanding contribution to the development of monumental and decorative art in Tajikistan.

More than 30 works by the artist, drawn from the National Museum’s Golden Fund and his personal collection, are presented in the exhibition. The exhibited works encompass various aspects of Sabzaali Murodzoda Sharif’s artistic oeuvre and reflect love and reverence for the mother, national values, the ancient history and culture of the Tajik people, the natural beauty of Tajikistan, as well as the achievements of the period of State Independence.

The central place in the exhibition is occupied by monumental works, including “From Era to Era”, “From Gaze to Gaze”, “From Distance to Light”, and “From Light to the Heights”. Through the distinctive language of fine art, these works embody the glorious history of the Tajik people, its culture and civilization, as well as its spiritual and national values.

The concept of the “Modarnoma” (“Ode to Mother”) exhibition presents, through works of painting, the history of the Tajik people and their ancestors, the theme of defending the ancestral homeland, reverence for the national language, and the prominent figures of Tajik science and culture whose enduring contributions have become an integral part of the heritage of world civilization. The exhibited paintings also reflect the unprecedented nation-building efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, aimed at bringing together Tajiks throughout the world, as well as the achievements of the period of State Independence and the glorious centuries-old history of the Tajik people.

One of the principal themes of the master’s artistic work is the image of woman and mother. In his works, the artist portrays the mother as a symbol of love and devotion, life, fidelity, happiness, and the continuity of generations, conveying through colour and form profound human emotions and love for the Motherland.

During the event, it was also emphasized that Sabzaali Murodzoda Sharif’s artistic oeuvre is inextricably linked with the national history and culture of Tajikistan. Over more than five decades of creative activity, he has made a significant contribution to the development of monumental and decorative art and contemporary fine arts in Tajikistan.

It should be noted that Sabzaali Murodzoda Sharif is the author of a number of significant works of monumental art and has made a substantial contribution to the creation of the symbols of presidential authority, including the Presidential Standard and the Presidential Badge of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The solo exhibition of works by People’s Artist of Tajikistan Sabzaali Murodzoda Sharif, entitled “Modarnoma” (“Ode to Mother”), provides art enthusiasts, researchers, cultural figures, and the wider public with an opportunity to become acquainted with the valuable artistic heritage of this distinguished master of Tajik fine art.

The “Modarnoma” (“Ode to Mother”) exhibition will remain on display at the National Museum until 2 October 2026. Visitors are invited to explore the exhibition and become acquainted with the rich and distinctive artistic legacy of one of the prominent representatives of contemporary fine art in Tajikistan.
