The opening of the “Return” exhibition at the National Museum

On 8 April 2025, an exhibition of restored visual artworks was inaugurated at the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. The exhibition, titled “Return”, was opened in honor of the International Day for the Protection of Cultural and Historical Heritage.

The exhibition was officially opened by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan Sattoriyon Matlubakhon Amonzoda, the Chairperson of the Union of Artists of Tajikistan Hamidova Nargis, the Director of the State Institution “National Museum” Ibrohimzoda Zafarsho Safo, and the People’s Artist of Tajikistan Sabzali Sharipov.

The exhibition was attended by the staff of the National Museum, professors and students of the Mirzo Tursunzoda State Institute of Culture and Art of Tajikistan, the State Institute of Visual Arts and Design of Tajikistan, the State Institution “Republican College of Fine Arts named after M. Olimov,” and representatives of the media.

In the “Return” exhibition, for the first time, more than 17 rare works of visual art from the golden collection of the National Museum were put on display for the public. These works were created between 1911 and 1974 by famous Tajik artists such as A. Morgunov, V. Lonin, M. Zubreeva, A. Kamelin, B. Serebryansky, A. Rahimov, V. Sidorenko, V. Brovidskiy, S. Barto, E. Burtsev, and others.

It is important to note that the historical significance of this exhibition lies in the fact that these rare works have not been displayed since the 1960s. Following comprehensive restoration and preservation by the restorers and specialists of the National Museum, the works have now been unveiled to the public for the first time in the form of a museum exhibition.

The works of Tajik artists, created over various years, reflect a range of themes, including the country’s unique nature, rare historical and cultural monuments, friendship of peoples, water, customs and traditions, and other national elements.

Visitors have the opportunity to view the exhibition of restored visual art works titled “Return” until 22 April 2025.
