Opening of the exhibition “samples of Tajik atlas and adras from the National Museum Fund”
A museum exhibition was held today, 19/07/2024, at the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. The exhibition, entitled “Examples of Tajik Atlas and Adras from the fund of the National Museum”, was held in honour of the inclusion of the “Tradition of weaving Atlas and Adras” in the UNESCO Register of Intangible Heritage of Humanity. It was also held to pay tribute to the national dress and to increase the value of Tajik clothing, representing the national culture.
At the outset of the exhibition, the Director of the National Museum, Ibrahimzoda Zafarsho Safo, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO, Zulfiya Burhan, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Umeda Abdullozoda, and the representative of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Doctor of Philosophy, Muhiba Mahmadzhanova, addressed the audience on the subject of the status of national clothing and its veneration.
Additionally, representatives from the Committee for Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Department for Women and Family Affairs of the executive body of the State authority of the city of Dushanbe, the State Institution “National Library” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in the exhibition.
At the conclusion of her remarks, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO, Zulfiya Burhan, presented a copy of the certificate confirming the inclusion of the “Tradition of weaving atlas and adras” in the UNESCO register of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity to the leadership of the National Museum.
This exhibition showcases the finest examples of Tajik atlas and adras, national women’s shirts and dresses with intricate designs and embroidery, as well as photographs and illustrations representing the national dress of Tajik women. These items have been loaned from the gold fund of the National Museum. Additionally, the exhibition featured a central display of historically significant artifacts, namely a weaving machine that was previously used by artisans to create the intricate patterns of the atlas and adras. The exhibition, entitled “Examples of Tajik Atlas and Adras from the Fund of the National Museum”, will remain open to the public until 1 August 2024.
