Opening of the exhibition “The representation of courage and heroism of the sons of the tajik people in the collections of the National Museum”
Today, February 20, 2026, at the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, a festive exhibition entitled “The Representation of Courage and Heroism of the Sons of the Tajik People in the Collections of the National Museum” was inaugurated in honor of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event was attended by officers and servicemen of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the National Guard of the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by the Director of the National Museum, Ibrokhimzoda Zafarsho Safo; the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, Abdurashid Khotamiyon; the Director of the Center for the Promotion of Literature of the Writers’ Union of Tajikistan and laureate of the Mirzo Tursunzoda Literary Prize, Murodali Sobir; and the representative of the National Guard of the Republic of Tajikistan, Farhod Muzaffariyon.
The speakers highlighted the historical stages in the formation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan and emphasized their significant role in ensuring national security, stability, and peace in the country.
As part of the cultural program, artists, as well as university students and school pupils from educational institutions across the country, performed patriotic songs and recited poems dedicated to the Motherland.
For the first time, the exhibition presents artworks from the collections of the National Museum, including paintings by A. N. Kamelin (“The Battle of Spitamenes against Alexander the Great”), E. G. Burtsev (“Border Guards”), K. Yodgorov (“The Light of a Distant Star”), M. Abdukadyrov (“Portrait of Ismoili Somoni”), M. Khoshmukhammedov (“Temurmalik”), D. Ilyabaev (“The Combat between Rustam and Isfandiyar”), I. Lisikov (“Guardian of Order”), S. Sheraliev (“Meeting. The Soldier Returned Home”), S. Kurbanov (“Portrait of General Toshmukhamedov”), M. Kanayan (“At the Border”), L. Khushvakhtov (“Border Guard”), A. Besperstov (“The Son’s Return”), A. Rahimov (“Portrait of the First Group of Women in the Tajik Militia”), and other works of Tajik fine art. Distinguished by high artistic mastery, these works depict the courage and self-sacrifice of the defenders of the Motherland.
It should be noted that in honor of the 33rd anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan, the National Museum has decided to provide free admission for 2,200 officers and servicemen to visit the permanent exhibition and the festive display from February 19 to 23 of the current year. Museum staff are organizing guided tours for the servicemen to facilitate a deeper understanding of the rich history and culture of the Tajik people.
The exhibition “The Representation of Courage and Heroism of the Sons of the Tajik People in the Collections of the National Museum” will remain open until March 3, 2026.
