Opening of the exhibition “Expression of the art of decoration (tazhib) in the written works of the ancestors” at the National museum

Today, September 20, 2024, in honor of the entry of “Tazhib – the artistic decoration of the text with gold ” into the UNESCO Register of Intangible Heritage of Humanity and in order to present and pay tribute to the written heritage of our ancestors, a joint exhibition of the State Institution “National Museum” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the State Institution “National Library” of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan under the title “Reflection of the art of decoration in the written works of ancestors” was held.
At the official opening of the exhibition, the director of the National Museum Ibrahimzoda Zafarsho Safo, the director of the National Library Faizalizoda Jumakhon Khol, the representative of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan on UNESCO affairs Bakhtiyorzoda Alisher, the director of the Center of Written Heritage under the Board of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Davlatzoda Rahmatkarim, the lecturer of the National University of Tajikistan, professor Saifullah Mulojanov and the teacher of the Tajik State Pedagogical University named after S. Aini Saidolim Komiljan spoke about the history of study, collection, preservation and reflection of the art of painting in the written works of ancestors.
At the same time, the representative of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan on UNESCO Affairs, Bakhtiyorzoda Alisher, sent the original “Certificate” confirming the entry of “Tazhib-the artistic decoration of the text with gold ” into the UNESCO Register of Intangible Heritage of Humanity, for storage and further use to the director. The state institution “National Museum” handed over to Ibrahimzoda Zafarsho Safo.
Then, the exhibition ” Reflection of tazhib (arts and crafts) in writing” was officially opened, and the visitors were given a tour of the museum by the representatives of the exhibition.
In this exhibition, more than 30 different examples of rare handwritten books covering various historical, mystical, moral, linguistic and literary, grammar and Hanafi jurisprudence topics from the golden fund of the National Museum and the National Library were put on display.
It is worth noting that for this exhibition, specimens demonstrating the art of tazhib have been selected. These specimens depict ornaments of angular, central, circular and other shapes. The exhibition is arranged chronologically and by type of ornament, starting with manuscripts with gilded patterns. A wide range of scholars, historians, researchers and keepers of the written heritage of ancestors will be in attendance and presentation.
The exhibition “Reflection of tazhib (arts and crafts) in writing” will continue until 10.10.2024.
